Good to know that Massachusetts residents (perhaps citizens is too broad a term these days) still have a pulse. Apparently, they ain’t likin’ Governor Patrick’s proposals to tax/fee/fine and penalize everything under the sun, perhaps more than once.
However, since Massachusetts votes overwhelmingly Democrat, cognitive dissonance appears to be at work here.A vote for a Massachusetts Democrat (i.e. Deval Patrick, Elizabeth Warren, etc.) is a vote for precisely the types of policies and practices that apparently have the same voters up in arms.
“People are shell-shocked,” said state Rep. Theodore C. Speliotis (D-Danvers) (where have people been? American Idol, Daily Show?)
Patrick spokeswoman Jesse Mermell said the governor is committed to expanding transportation and education to promote growth statewide. (rolling my eyes to the millionth power)
People are getting EXACTLY what they deserve. There has been no shortage of qualified candidates offering alternative methods but voters have chosen the path they are now on and apparently find dyspeptic.
There will be further opportunity for change in weeks and months ahead, and so we will see.
